Who are we?
Welcome to the page of our film! We are Leen Alfaisal, the director, and Sarah Hassan, the producer, of feature length independent film The Borrowed Dress.
When we are not making independent documentary films, we work as producers at CNN Dubai. Our true passion, however, lies in film, and through film our friendship developed. Before The Borrowed Dress, we collaborated in two short documentary films, which participated in a number of film festivals in the region.
Not “Another film about Syria”
Scores of films have been made about the Syrian uprising and civil war, mainly focusing on front lines, destruction, protests, death, or the bleak side of immigration and camps. The Borrowed Dress, however, is not another film about the Syrian war, but an early documentation of the effects of the Syrian diaspora on the Syrian family, society, and psychology. As more than half of the Syrian population has been displaced inside and outside the country, almost every Syrian household has had a taste of bitter goodbyes. Know more about the film on its accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
Through this campaign, we wish to gather $4000 to finish the post production phase of our film, which involves color grading, sound mixing, and music composing. Without post-production, the film will not live up to the story that it is trying to tell, and will not succeed at attracting film festival worldwide to screen it and share one of the millions of stories that Syrian families are living.
This is not a donation!
As the film reached its final stages of production, we shared it with top-notch industry professionals, and the story succeeded in making them want to be a part of it, offering their services at a very discounted rate or no money at all.
However, we still need $4000 to complete all post production costs, which will be evenly divided between color grading the footage, mixing and designing sound, mastering and putting subtitles, and composing original score of the film. The campaign is only successful if the financial goal is met. So your contribution will be of great help no matter how small it is!
In order for us to apply to major film festivals and the story out there, the film needs to be complete as soon as possible; therefore, your support is necessary for us.
Check the contribution options to the right, and the reward you will get in return of your contribution! If you can not contribute getting the word out there to others will be of great help!
There are no updates for this project yet.
