Hello, My Name is Serene Dardari. I am a Syrian Social Change Maker and a Civil Society Communication Adviser.
“When I help my Syrian brothers and sisters in Lebanon, I am also helping Lebanon as a whole; in fact, I am helping humanity as a whole. Why? Because I truly believe that we are not well unless we are all well”.
As I am sitting on my comfortable couch, curled up in front of my heater, covered in fluffy warm blankets, I see these images.
This is from Arsal region in the Bekaa valley of Lebanon. Hundreds of people with limited resources are literally stuck in their tents. No matter how fortified the tent is, it is not a house, those are not actual walls and this is not okay.
We can’t change the status quo and we can’t affect world politics but we can do the human thing and share.
This is what they crucially need and we can help them through this:
I will be heading to Arsal very soon to deliver your donations myself.

ICE COLD WEATHER and another storm is on its way!
Dear kind person,
Since you are trusting me with your money, I make it a point to head to the camps myself, purchase the materials and deliver them. Please know that none of your donations will go to cover transportation, communication or volunteer stipends. Here is a brief update.
I went to Arsal and the visit left me in tears. I understand why most NGOs avoid working in Arsal. It is a dangerous place, quite the tough environment, I really do not know how a chid could live here. If you look at the photos, you will notice that there is no smoke coming out of any pipes, from any tent. This means that no tent has their fuel furnace/heater on, they either have no fuel or they are saving it for the storm. As you see in the first photo, I am wearing a thick rain jacket, snow shoes and several layers, and I was still cold. Another storm is coming and most families have not received enough fuel to stay warm.
I visited a camp with a majority of widows and orphans. There are 221 families who NEED food baskets and fuel. Some tents are positioned in areas which do not see the sun. It is literally freezing.
One food basket costs 30$ - this will feed a family. Can you spare 30$?
Please share and share and share.
