Hi, My name is Nofa Hamza and I am the owner of the first ever fully fledged Kids Gym with special machines and specialized trainers that cater for kids between the ages of 5 and 15.
This gym was established in November 2013 with the mission of helping reduce the Obesity issue which is rapidly growing amongst our children. Currently in Bahrain the rate of Obesity and over weight has reached 69% among our youth (As per UNDP statistics). The start of this project was considerably difficult in terms of funding and today we need your kind support in helping us fight the Obesity issue by funding the purchase of the missing equipment which we couldn't buy due to lack of funding. The overwhelming increase in the Obesity issue among our youth couldn't be fought and reduced if we all don't put our hands in hand to do it; and I think that all of us "parents" have a responsibility towards this viscous plague that is increasing in our children and which is the main cause for the increase in Diabetes, High Cholesterol levels, Cardiac Problems and other related diseases.
To understand us better, know how we started and what we stand for, I urge you to give us your time and go through our story; in hope that you would find our mission in existence is a vital one for the future health of our children and that you would support us in our needed machines.
Thank you and best of regards,
As a mother of 3 children I started noticing that my children have started to put on weight; in addition, to being in front of the TV most of the time and their level of outdoor activity has decreased which is mainly due to the fact of the modern technology in video games and the franchised fast food that our children’s are very much attracted too. Not forgetting our very hot weather and the increase of the traffic which made outdoor activities among children’s unpleasant and unsafe.
Just imagine your child sitting in front of TV all day and eating fast-food what will it do to him as he grows older and older. This is a small diagram showing the result of us parents neglecting the importance of a healthy way of living among our children. The impact not only will be negative on their way of looking; it is further as it will badly damage their health and not forgetting the low self-esteem and confidence.
From the above I think you would agree with us on the importance of a proper facility that will help the children and us fight the vicious cycle of Obesity which is drastically growing amongst them and how much good such facility will do to our community and to the health future of our children.
Now; Just imagine if there is a gym that caters to a unique clientele: children aged 5 to 15 years how much good such gym would do to the dangerously increasing level of Obesity in the region and on educating them the importance of sports among how much good such gym will do to the health future of these kids; wouldn't it restrain the increased level of diabetes, the high-rise level of cholesterol and heart problems among our young youth
At first; I and with the support of my husband started to hold some outdoor activities and very soon after it became obvious to us that a lot of the parents in Bahrain are also as concerned about the obesity issue as we were. The outdoor activities started to attract a huge number of kids and our last held outdoor activity was in May 2013 "pictures of it below" which due to the increase in our summer heat we had to put it on hold.
Soon after May we started to think of how to make a proper gym for the kids to be able to work out in it 360 days of the year which is equipped with special machines to cater for the age between 5 and 15. in addition to the machines the gym had to be supervised by certified trainers that will be able to make sure that the children do exercise in a proper way. After an investment made by my husband in addition to a small financing from Bahrain Development Bank in November 2013 our Gym came to life.
This is our Team Awesome; it is an aerobic session where the children enjoy working out with the help of music:
As a start-up funding was difficult to get and we couldn't get sufficient funds for us to purchase all the required machines and equipments to cater for the number of children we were getting. and a big thanks goes to Leena AlOlaimy article in Wamda about us (Wamda Article) which opened the door for us with Zoomaal and we came to know about Crowd Funding, which would provide us with the needed funding to continue our growth in helping the children that need it without the need in increasing the our fees on those children.
1) US$ 31,000.00 to purchase 5 special children's treadmill from our supplier; with a 5 year maintenance service package.
2) US$ 12,500.00 to purchase 5 special children's station bikes from our supplier; with a 5 year maintenance service package.
3) US$ 6,500.00 to purchase special children's dumbbells, 2 sit-up benches and other small gym equipments.
4) US$ 2,500.00 Zoomaal and charges fees.
As mentioned above we do have difficulties in raising the required funds and Crowd Funding would enable us to purchase the needed treadmills, station cycles and other equipment without reflecting the financing cost back on the children's membership costs making it feasible for them to come and burn their excess calories and to become healthy kids. Your contribution would make all of this happen and you will put a smile on the children's faces for not waiting in long ques to use the machines; Your support will also help us in accepting more needing children and on top of all you will be able to help us fight the ever growing obesity problem among our children.
Above all you would get our sincere and deepest appreciation; that is of course after your self-satisfaction for your kind contribution in helping reduce the Obesity among the coming generation.1) Our bumper sticker
You believe in our role to fight Obesity but can't contribute; no issues; we do appreciate it if you can spread the word about us on the social media it will mean a lot not only to the growth of our gym but to the children's that are trying to be fit and to have a better healthy future.
