The people of Gaza are now in their seventh week of protest. They are standing up to 70 years of repression by Israel. They are organizing peaceful protests at the border demanding the right of refugees to return to their homes and towns and the lifting of the siege on Gaza, which has been named the "world's largest prison".
The Israeli army has once again used deadly force against the protestors. Snipers are shooting unarmed Palestinian civilians. The death toll on May 14th reached 55 dead and 2,400 injured, as reported by Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sitteh, a reconstructive surgeon who made it into Gaza a few days ago. According to Ghassan "It's carnage".
Dr. Abu-Sitteh is working non-stop at al-Awda Hospital to treat the injured. "The majority of injuries are to the legs, and are intended to cripple", reports Abu-Sitteh of the use of illegal high velocity metal bullets, including internationally banned fragmentation bullets. Injuries have been massive.
Al-Awada Hospital is based in the northern Gaza close to the border. It is considered a first-line hospital. Today Al-Awda is in desperate need of Operating Room kits, tourniquets, and emergency supplies. Due to the siege of Gaza, the current equipment is very old and "falling apart".
All donations will be channelled through Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sitteh.

Message from Ghassan:
«Today Gaza is tending to its wounds. Its people are burying their loved ones or visiting the injured. The horor that was visited upon it yesterday has left Gazans realing from the pain but certainly not defeated. The pain of the loss of those who are no longer with us, the pain of those injured and are now facing a lifetime of disability. Most of all the pain of being abandoned by the world.»
