Mr. & Mrs. Everybody
The short film explores personal marital issues Jad & Assil (or Mr. & Mrs. Everybody) are having. What's it like maintaing a healthy relationship ? Can honesty keep a relationship going when the honeymoon phase is over?
Jad & Assil are a 30 something year old couple. They've been married for a couple of years and have been going out for a bit longer. On a friday night, they see through their bedroom window another couple having intercourse, they start watching them while having their dinner. The jokes that they start throwing around turn into accusation, they end up having a fight. Where I got my inspiration from:
All the couples around me, my parents, my parent's friends, my friend's parents, my friends, the couples in the movies, are influencing Assil & Jad my imaginary couple.
The academic research stemmed from Stanley Cavell's "Pursuits of Happiness: The Hollywood Comedy of Remarriage" is my main reference for this project. He "created" this sub-genre based on a compilation of movies form the mid thirties till late forties such as "Bringing Up Baby"- Howard Hawks, or "His Girl Friday" - Howard Hawks. This sub-genre's narrative focuses on a couple that finds its way back to love throughout the movie. They fight, they talk, they play, they hurt each other, hate each other, comfort each other until they realise they actually love each other.
I would like to transform this american sub-genre by experimenting with Lebanese cultural norms that are inherent in Assil & Jad.
How you'll be helping me realise this Project:
The total budget for the shoot is 4,500 $Where will it go?
- Camera & Lighting Equipment : 2,100 $
- Sound Equipment : 700 $
- Art Direction : 300 $
- Miscellaneous Supplies (Zoomaal fee, engine rental, taxis, food supplies, permits etc.) : 400$
- Actors' fee : 1000 $
It is a very difficult to get funding for student productions in Lebanon, we (students) tend to pay for shoots from our own pocket money. I really do want my Ideas to be executed in a professional manner and I would like to see my project being made exactly how I Imagined it. Here is where YOU
will help me make it happen! Other Ways You Can Help
If you like this project, spread the word!SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!!
Odds are, that somebody you know, knows somebody, who would like to help make it happen!
