The Art of Change project is aimed at beautifying the buildings of Hamra, by partnering with artists and building owners to create murals across Hamra Street.
The previous projects we have undergone were the Sabah building in 2015, in Hamra designed by Yazan Halwani, the BBAC building in 2016, on Hamra street designed by Jad Khoury (Potato Nose), as well as the murals in Aley which was part of an event we organized in 2017, that had several local and international artists working on different sites, inside Aley and on the Damascus Road bridge.
In 2018, Ahla Fawda took Lebanese artists to participate in the RISE International Urban Art Festival in Croydon, UK.
Our next projects are planned throughout 2019, as we are working towards turning more buildings into artistic landmarks.
The artists that we work with on our projects are international and local artists such as: Elie Zaarour (Zed Forty),Giacomo Buraffini (Giacomo Run), Karim Tamerji, Diana Halabi, Otto Shehade, Dan Simmerman, and others.
The projects take about 5 to 10 days to be completed and followed by a reception where all donors, media and supporters will be present for the unveiling of the murals.
The budget for any of our projects depends on mural height and width; it is estimated between $6,000 to $15,000 and covers:
As most of you already know we have started a crowdfunding campaign through Zoomaal to help kickstart our projects over the next couple of months. So far we have raised $1,250 of the $6,000 we need.
We wanted to thank every person who has donated so far.
We still have a long way to go to make things happen and the only way we can do this is with your support, every bit counts.
Please share our crowdfunding with your friends, donate any amount, spread the word and help us reach our goal.
