JUST CARE is a non-profit organization resulting from a family dilemma. In August 2014, a fatal traffic injury led to the death of a father and daughter and the catastrophic Traumatic Brain injury (TBI) of the third passenger, a 16-year-old girl, Justine. During her harsh recovery phase, her family gathered their strength to overcome the consequences of the tragedy, and decided to rechannel their devastating plight into a positive cause: JUST CARE. After a long battle with what was medically diagnosed as a severe TBI case, and a long ordeal to see their daughter slowly recovering from her injuries, the family pledged to defend TBI cases and to stand by the side of other families undergoing similar circumstances, supporting them every step of the way, by offering: psychological assistance, multi-disciplinary therapy treatment, light mobility equipment and medical care to families unable to afford them. One of the prominent founders of JUST CARE is Valérie Abou Chacra, crowned Miss Lebanon and 3rd runner up of Miss World 2015/2016. Inspired by her sister’s case, Valérie took the initiative to participate in the Lebanese beauty pageant, intending to benefit from this positive event to bring back life and hope into her family after the difficult case of her sister Justine, and hoping for it to be a good springboard for JUST CARE. Justine’s fight with TBI, her resistance and persistence to stay alive, proved that there is light behind the darkest hours, and smiles following moments of despair. Justine’s smiling face and strong positive willpower, today is the best example of JUST CARE’s extraordinary power that should be spread on a larger scale! Vision: Our vision is to help, heal and deliver hope to everyone in Lebanon who is affected by Traumatic Brain Injury. Mission: Our mission is to foster a community of awareness, advocacy, support and research to minimize brain injury consequences and optimize the quality of life for the survivors and their families.
