Social Communication Center - Ajial - Ajial is the first Lebanese registered non-governmental organization, that works FOR the Palestinian youth and is run BY Palestinian youth. After 15 years of real practice of youth empowerment and incentives for change, Ajial acquired a first‐hand insight into the Palestinian youths’ mind frame. The Social Communication Center (SCC) “Ajial” was established in 1999 and became officially recognized as a Lebanese NGO in 2001, License 77/AD. WHY? AJIAL was established to support the development of the Palestinian refugee youth of Lebanon in a complex and trying socio‐political and economical context. Such an environment can allow for negative influences to undermine the youth. It is AJIAL's mandate to limit those by recognizing talents/abilities, creating opportunities for them to blossom and fostering initiatives. Ajial’s experience in Sports and Community was brought-in by its active members and was made possible because of the valuable network with local clubs and sports mobilizers across the country. Together, Majdi Majzoub, Abir Hassan, Ashraf Abu Khurj, and Rabih Salah, as the founding group with the administrative support of Maj Navntoft, they gave a substantial foundation for the project to build on the short, medium and long term goals. This team has an acknowledged experience in sports and development as they have been emerging many local initiatives in sports and physical activities in cooperation and with international, regional and national organizations. Now, the project is being led by a group of youth and together they are now planning for a wide-ranging project, which will educate youth to become social change agents by using sport and physical activity as a path towards social empowerment, team-play, discipline, respect, community intervention and transparent sport clubs.
