Zoomaal, in partnership with Hivos, is launching the Women on The Frontline Challenge, that aims to support projects that have a positive impact on the position of women in society. Projects that in any way help to empower women, celebrate women, and inspire both women and men to encourage women to fully and equally contribute to society, be it online, offline, in public, or at home.
Projects can include creative, artistic or social activist projects. It can be a movie that educates, a music cd that celebrates, an app that helps women to freely and safely navigate the online or offline streets, or a community initiative that creates awareness.
Call for applications starts on Friday September 4 and will be open for 4 weeks
Projects cannot be submitted during the challenge period.
Qualified projects will receive a matched amount for every contribution their project receives.
For example, if Funder X contributes $500 to your project, you
will receive an equally matched fund of $500 by Hivos.
Your project can receive the matched funding until:
- The allocated prize
money ($20,000) is totally spent OR
- Until the deadline of the Challenge OR
- 100% of the project funding target is reached.
- The maximum of matched funds per contributor is set at: $500
- The maximum matched funding available per project: $4,000
- Only
projects that require a maximum budget of $25,000 (as a final milestone) are
eligible to apply in the challenge.
- Will offline contributions be matched?
Yes. However, a funder ID and proof of payment need to be presented.
- Does sponsorship funding count? How?
Yes. Individual and Sponsorship funding will be matched dollar for dollar. The cap on matched funding per user/organization is $500.
- Does in-kind funding count?
In-kind funding can be counted towards the target however it cannot be matched. Documentation needs to be presented showing value, and will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
- Can a project continue to receive matched-funding after it reaches its first milestone?
yes, projects can continue to receive matched-funding until they reach their final target.
- Can a project continue to receive matched-funding after it reaches its target?
No, the matched funding will stop once a project reaches its full target.
- Can one person apply with more than 1 project?
No. We believe it’s difficult in enough to plan 1 successful event. However we encourage people to participate and support multiple projects.
- Can a project campaign run beyond the challenge period?
